Shekar who produced Arindum Ariyamalum, Pattial and Ali Baba   is now producing a film titled Katradhu Kalavu. Krishna and Vijayalakshmi are doing the lead roles.

The audio launch of the film was held in Sathyam Theatres in Chennai. Distributors Council president Kalaipuli G Sekaran while speaking on this occasion said,” This year 120 direct films and 60 dubbed films were released. Only 5 films succeeded at the box office.

5 films did average business. All other films were utter flops. Only 2 big budgeted films did well at the box office. Lot of new film producers are coming into Tamil film industry. Since they are inexperienced, their films fail. They are not able to select good stories.

When we ask them on what confidence they are making movies, they say that they are confident that satellite channels will acquire the rights. Is it possible for TV channels to purchase all the films? Hence Producers Council should impose restrictions on the new producers.

They should be made members only after assessing their knowledge on film making.”While replying to this Tamil Producers Council president Rama Narayanan said,” There are lots of problems in the film industry. All these should be settled within us. If we speak in public, people will think badly of us. Kalaipuli G Sekaran while speaking mentioned that the small budgeted films released this year did not succeed.

Nadodigal and Pasanga were small budgeted films and they made heavy profits.”Tamil Film Producer Council secretary Sivasakthi Pandian, K Muralidharan, Treasurer Kaja Mohideen, film producers Kovai Thambi, A L Azhagappan, Azhagan Tamizh Mani, P L Thenappan, directors Kasthoori Raja, Vijay, Vishnuvardhan, Sasi, actors Krishna, Ghajini, actress Vijayalakshmi and music composer Paul J spoke on this occasion.Director Balaji Devi Prasad welcomed the gathering while Pattial Shekar thanked the gathering for gracing the occasion.
