There were rumours making the rounds in Kollywood that Rajinikanth's mega big budget period project Rana has been shelved. (click here to see yesterdays report).

In fact the grapevine had it that director KS Ravikumar and Rajinikanth had a meeting in which they decided to drop the project.

They felt under Rajinikanth's present health situation it would not be wise to continue with the period drama which required strenuous horse riding and action scenes.

Instead Rajinikanth and Ravikumar wanted to do a soft mass family drama like their earlier Muthu and Padayappa.

Remember the superstar developed health problems during the pooja of Rana and was hospitalised for a brief period in Chennai before being flown to Singapore for further treatment.

Meanwhile Eros the producers of Rana have denied that it has been shelved. They say that the film will start rolling in November.
