Mankatha wins big at International Tamil Film Awards

Recently the Mankatha team flew to Singapore to take part in the ITFA Awards. Mankatha won awards at four different categories.

Mankatha took Awards for Best Film, Best Director(Venkat Prabhu), Best Cinematography(Shakti Saravanan), Best Supporting Actor(Premgi Amaran).

Venkat Prabhu who was thrilled said 'it was a happy moment for our entire team and the whole credits goes to Thala' and signed off.

Singapore: It was clearly a night to remember for fans of Tamil film at the International Tamil Film Awards (ITFA) 2012, held last night at the Singapore Expo.

Co-presented by Silver Screen International and MediaCorp channel Vasantham, the four-hour event saw performances by local favourites Kaushik, Vishnu Balaji, Sahana and Brammi, as well as South Indian stars Swetha Mohan, Ranjith and Shriya Saran, to the delight of the fans.

Said 26-year-old Sutha Krishnan: "Most of the stars I like are here (which is why) I thought of coming down to see them."

Rajesh Kumar, a 25-year-old software consultant from Coimbatore, India, also had a favourite: "(I am here to see) Simbhu. He's my favourite actor."

A total of 15 accolades were given out, with the action-thriller Mankatha bagging the coveted Best Film award. The film's director, Venkat Prabhu, took home the Best Director award, while actor Premji Amaran won Best Supporting Actor.

Jai and Shriya Saran bagged the Best Actor and Actress awards, respectively, while the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to renowned filmmaker Gangai Amaran for his contribution to Tamil films.
