The Sundar C directed Kalakalappu is soon to be out this week. In a chat with kollyinsider.com, one of the main lead, Vimal gets talking on why this comedy caper is special to him…

What’s your role in Kalakalappu?
I play Cheenu, who is the brother of Shiva in the film. We run a masala cafe in Kumbakonam. My character is more responsible while Shiva is always upto some mischief. One of the criteria for accepting a role for me, is liking it a lot and playing Cheenu was a lot of fun and the character has become quite close to me!

How was it working with Shiva?
There was never a dull moment. Shiva and Santhanam kept us in splits and this friendship translates onto the screen. In fact the chemistry between Shiva and me is outstanding! For a comedy to be successful, that's quite important and therefore a good thing!

How was it working with Sundar C?
I wanted to play the character the minute I heard my role from him. I was really excited to be doing a film with someone like him. I can hardly believe my luck to be working with him. I still recall my school days when I used to sneak out and watch his movies!

What’s the USP of the film?
Its a complete entertainer for the summer holidays. One song which is about love failure will surely be a hit with the masses.

Why are you so media shy?
Facing one camera itself is tough! Facing so many media cameras makes me even more nervous!
