An awarding Debut Nothing can give a young actor a bigger confidence boost than the elusive Black Lady, who remains on the wishlist of even the most seasoned actors. So, when you win a Filmfare Award for your very first film, the feeling is even more special.

The Filmfare Best Debut awards, both male and female, went to actors Aadi and Shruti Haasan for their roles in Telugu films. While Aadi won the award for "Prema Kavali", Shruti won the award for her work in both "Anaganaga O Dheerudu" in Telugu and "7Aum Arivu" in Tamil.

Receiving the award from her legendary father Kamal Haasan made the night all the more special for her, said Shruti. "I practiced my speech in front of the mirror many times over, but now when the moment has come, I am speechless. Thank you appa for giving me this award..." she said.

"I've received the Black Lady earlier, but that was on behalf of my father. Now, I'm thrilled to have one of my own; it's a heady feeling. And the best part was, I got to receive it from my dad. This made the evening more special to me. I feel energised and motivated. Apart from having my dad with me on such an important occasion, I was glad my best friends from school and college could be present to share my happiness. The award will proudly rest on my shelf for a long time," added Shruti.

Adi's dream come true It was a great moment for young actor Aadi who called his award an old dream come true. "I always wanted to win this award, now that I have achieved this dream, I have a new one - to win the best actor's award. Hopefully, that too will happen soon."

The evening was all the more special for Aadi's family as they took home two awards. While Aadi himself won the award for Best Debut male, his uncle Ravishankar, who's best known as the dubbing artiste in "Arundhati" for Sonu Sood, won the Best Supporting Actor award for Kannada. Aadi's dad, actor Saikumar, too was present as the family rejoiced the wins right through the after party.

Shreya's musical hattrick! In a rare feat, Shreya Ghoshal achieved the unusual when she won not one, not two, but three Filmfare Awards in the Best Playback Singer (female) category. The singer who surpassed competition in Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, confessed that that is a first for her, and will always remain as something she will cherish all her life. Unfortunately though, Shreya couldn't be present at the awards show, but she sent across a message, in which she thanked all her mentors who made it possible.

Talking about the soothing number "Jagadhanandha" from "Sri Ramarajyam", which won her the award in Telugu, Shreya said, "Thank you Ilayarajaji... You've always showed me the way. This is a very special day for me as this has never happened before. I hope, I deliver better songs to my audiences and continue to win their hearts."

Incidentally, Jonnavithula Ramalingeswara Rao also won the best lyricist for "Jagadhanandha". Shreya's rendition of "Gaganave" from "Sanju Weds Geetha" won her the award in Kannada, and in Malayalam she won it for "Paatil ee Paatil" from "Pranayam".
