About Thandavam?

The film Deiva Thirumagal which had me in the lead role was directed by Vijay. This film earned a great respect among the audience. So we both decided to join hands in the film Thandavam.

In the first combination, you would have seen Anandha Thandavam. Now you will see Rudra Thandavam. Though I will not be wearing super hero costumes such as superman and Spiderman, this film has the super hero story.

It seems that you have donned the role of a blind man. Are you donning dual roles in this film?

Dual role. All this are suspense. Though I am donning the role of a blind man I will be doing all the work of a normal person. I have taken special training for this.

What is that training?

Daniel Kish is an American who has lost is eyesight in his child hood days itself. He had practised human echolocation. Human echolocation is a technique of detecting objects, their position and sound by sensing echoes. He is living like a normal person. Cinematographer Nirav Shah who has heard about this person has mentioned this about to director Vijay. Only after this we developed this blind man character. I met Daniel Kish and took training from him for two weeks.

Even in Kasi, you had donned the role of a blind man.

In Kasi, I donned the role of a blind man and sang songs but in this film I have acted in action, chasing and fighting sequences. Mammootty has donned the role of a police officer in more than 30 films but each will vary from one another. In the same way I have also shown a difference in this film. I can show variety in other six or seven films as a blind man.

How has the film come out?

This will be an important film in my career. There is a big star cast consisting of Anushka, Amy Jackson, Latchmi Rai, Saranya, Santhanam, Nasar, Jagapathy Babu, M S Bhaskar, Sayaji Shinde, Delhi Ganesh and Kotta Srinivasa Rao. G V Prakash’s music has come out well. Amy Jackson has excelled in the action sequences. This film has a different story. It has all the commercial ingredients such as romance, sentiment, comedy and action.
