If one looks at film ads in newspapers it looks like Vishal's Thiru directed Samar is pitched against Vishal's Sundar C directed Madha Gaja Raja (MGR)! Both the films are dominating newspaper ad columns.

Samar produced by Jaya Balaji Real Media has Vishal, Trisha and Manoj Bajpai and is said to be an action thriller with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. It is scheduled to release in December.

Madha Gaja Raja (MGR) produced by Gemini Film Circuit (GFC) is an action comedy and has Vishal, Anjali and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar with music by Vijay Antony . It is publicised as a Pongal release.

Two Vishal films almost back to back is not being liked by the trade. Vishal's last release Vedi (2011) was a damp squib at the box-office.

Vishal is trying his best to release Samar an action thriller in December so that he will have a 2012 release.

Meanwhile GFC is very particular that MGR should be Vishal's next release and after that Samar should release. GFC feels MGR is a mass masala from Sundar C and it will work during Pongal season.
