Prakash Raj hosts 'Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi' replaces Suriya [Interview]

He has been the bad guy, carried off character roles with finesse, been loved and hated at the same time. Now he is getting geared up to show his fans his new avatar.
Popular actor, Prakash Raj is the host of Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi, which is also known as the Tamil version of Kaun Banega Crorepati. It was Kollyinsider first reported the story Prakash Raj may replace Suriya for Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi months ago. Vijay TV and Big Synergy together bring the international game format to Tamil television, with the show to be aired from March. The versatile actor is not new to the small screen. He began by acting in Kannada Doordarshan serials before entering the film industry. In an interview, Prakash Raj reveals that hosting NVOK is going to be an emotional journey for him and he can't wait to meet his fans.
Prakash Raj went through an orientation with Siddharth Basu, producer-director of Kaun Banega Crorepati, which was hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. "I'm right now understanding the nuances and elements of the programme. I'm indeed finding the entire process interesting. More than saying that I'm going to host the show, I see this as an opportunity to interact with many people," says Prakash.

Actor Suriya hosted the first season of NVOK and garnered wide attention from audiences across Tamil Nadu. So does Prakash think that he will be compared with Big B and Suriya? "Of course. Audiences will tend to draw the difference. But the fact is that Amitabhji has a great personality and he is a great listener. He made the hot seat contestants feel comfortable and he helped them enjoy the game," he says.

On the other hand, Surya was charming and lovely. Yes, they have set a benchmark. However, I'll try to be myself. At the same time, I'll be different from what they have done. I know that it's little difficult, but I'll indeed try my level best," says the Duet star.

The actor is a multifaceted personality. He acts, directs and produces. But he is certain that hosting this show will not restrain him from carrying out any of the other activities. "My entire schedule has been drafted around NVOK. So I'll have enough time to prepare, rest and do things for myself," says Prakash Raj.

He was not welcomed in a villain's role, but perhaps audiences would accept him if he combined villainy with some lighter touches? "I hope so. I've done multiple things in the two decades of my career. I'm certain that my fans will be happy to see this unexplored side of me and I'm excited to see my horizons widening. It's time for my people — in fact, I don't call them fans – to know more of the man whom they have known for a long time. I see NVOK as a great platform and I reckon that it's going to change my life," says Prakash Raj, who deems that he's eager to listen to the stories and experiences of the participants for whom this game gives hope and a life-changing moment. An ecstatic Prakash Raj can't seem to wait to begin the show, he laughs and says, "Let's just play."

He also goes on to add, "On the other hand, Suriya was charming and lovely. Yes, they have set a benchmark. However, I'll try to be myself. At the same time, I'll be different from what they have done. I know that it's little difficult, but I'll indeed try my level best."
