It is worth mentioning that Lingusamy had acquired the theatrical rights of Manirathnam's Kadal in Chennai, Kovai and Madurai.
In his note to media channels, the director has mentioned saying, "No one can decide the success or failure of a film. Manirathnam sir has been my sole inspirer and his movies were one of the reasons pushing me to do something here in this industry. I wouldn't even think of asking for loss compensation to Manirathnam sir, who is my inspiring GURU and none from my production office would do that….
