The second part of "Indian" directed by Shankar is on the anvil. Reports says, Kamal Hassan, who played the role of Indian in the first part, appears in the second part as the grandfather of Suriya who is out to take revenge on his grandfather for the death of his father.
Kamal Haasan played both the aged father and son in the original version.

The sequel is expected to cost rupees 125 crores and Shankar will begin his work after completing the works of "I" which has Vikram as the hero. "Indian" was produced by A M Ratnam with music by A R Rahman and the star cast included, besides Kamal Hassan, celebrity actors such as Koundamani, Senthil, Manisha Koirala, Urmila, Sukanya and Nedumuni Venu in important roles. The movie was produced at a cost of 12 crores of rupees and harvested Rs.30 crores from the box-office.
