Vijay and Mohanlal escapes fire accident in Jilla shooting [Video]
Vijay’s Jilla would be vying with Ajith’s Veeram for honours as both the films are scheduled to release on Pongal next month. The above mishap occurred when the title song of the film was being shot near Udumalaipettai.
Elaborate arrangements were made and a huge ‘temple set’ had been erected near the vast expanse of land adjacent to the Tirumurthy Dam near Udumalaipettai. Debutant director Nesan was canning the ‘introductory song’ of Vijay in the set which contained a temple, market place, etc. Vijay, Mohanlal, Kajal Aggarwal, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Mahat, Suri, Thambi Ramaiah and hundreds of dancers were present at the spot.
Many music artistes from Tamil Nadu and Kerala also took part in the shoot of the song. The place was milling with crowd even as the cinamatogrpaher was shooting the song which featured Vijay, Mohanlal and many junior artistes. When the sequence featuring bursting of crackers was being shot, the crackers which had been kept at the shooting spot caught fire and started to burst.
The crew hardly expected this and before it could react to control the bursting of crackers, five crew membes got injured and were rushed to a nearby hospital. The shoot was immediately halted and Vijay and Mohanlal were rushed to a place of safety. It was only after a few hours after things were brought under control that the crew could resume the shooting schedule to complete the song’s shoot.
