South Indian Movies (Entertainment industry) Box Office tracker Sreedhar Pillai tweeted his views on Tamil Cinema 2013.

♦ It was a memorable year as box-office collections outside TN improved. Kollywood is only 25to30 % size of Bollywood market

♦ TN has a cap on ticket rates, lowest multiplex ticket rate in India + 25 %tax on Tamil films which r not U certificate.

♦ Still Tamil cinema audiences r loyal.They along with Telugu (AP) audiences C more films than other states. Superstars rule

♦ Last year small budget films (Pizza,NKPK) ruled & were profitable . But this year due 2 high cost of productionmany lost.

♦ Niche concept good films made on a high budget (Maryan, Paradesi etc, etc) did not work commercially due 2 budget.

♦ No Tamil film is in Rs 100Cr club,as 85 to 90% of theater revenue come from TN, a realistic figure would be the 50C club

♦ If it has 2 reach Rs 100C club, there should b 50% more screens than the current 965 odd, and liberalization in business.

♦ Worldwide my top grosser in terms of theatricals & other rights including Hindi & Tamil version = ‪‎Vishwaroopam‬

♦ Super Hits (according 2 alphabetic order) Arrambam, RajaRani, Singam 2, Varuthapudatha Valibar Sangam, Vishwaroopam.

♦ Hits (according to alphabetic order) Ethir Neechal, Kanna Laddu Thinna Asai, Kutty Puli, Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru.
