Yuvan to change his religion to Islam, what could be his name?
Music composer Yuvanshankar Raja has rubbished rumours that he has gotten married for the third time.
The 34-year-old composer tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend Sujaya Chandran in 2005, but they parted ways in 2008. Yuvan entered into wedlock for the second time with Shilpa Mohan in 2011 and reportedly lives with her.
Three days ago, Yuvan clarified about the rumours of his third marriage on his Twitter handle. While he dismissed the wedding rumours, he also revealed that he follows Islam. "I'm not married for the third time. That news is fake and yes I follow Islam and I'm proud about it. Alhamdhulillah," Yuvan tweeted.
"Currently, he is planning to convert to Islam and is also thinking of going for a change of name. But, he is yet to decide on these. Since it is his personal decision, his family members respect it," a source close to the music director told reporters.
"My family supports my decision and there is no misunderstanding between me and my dad," he further said.
It is not clear as to what made Yuvan follow Islam. A source close to the music director told reporters: "Yuvan was very attached to his mother and soon after she passed away, he started missing her a lot. He also met a spiritual guru, but we cannot say what exactly made him follow Islam."
Yuvan has reportedly been practicing Islam for almost a year. "He has been doing namaz five times a day all these months. He is not missing his prayers even when he is at work and ensures that he allots time for it at his studio as well," the source added.
The reason behind his conversion is not known, but rumour has it that the music composer decided to follow the religion after meeting a spiritual guru. It has also been said that director Ameer was responsible for Yuvan's decision, but the singer-songwriter has rubbished it.
Yuvan, who began his musical career more than a decade ago, rose to fame with several hit albums to his credit. The composer is currently busy with his upcoming projects including Suriya's "Anjaan", Simbu's "Vettai Mannan", Gautham Karthik's "Vai Raja Vai" and director Ram's "Taramani" among others.
