It's every actor's dream to essay a variety of characters on screen. However, when a particular genre clicks for an actor and goes on to become a hit, he's usually flooded with similar offers. Trying to avoid being typecast is the struggle many actors go through. This involves patiently waiting for the right scripts to come along. The same happpens to be the case with the tall hunk Ashok Selvan, who debuted in Soodhu Kavvum. With his following two movies, Pizza 2 -The Villa and Thegidi, also being thrillers, we hear he's eager to break out of the mould and try something new. And it looks like the wait is over now. City Express learnt that the good-looking youngster is now going the romance, action and comedy way in his future films.

The actor has been waiting for the right scripts to showcase his various talents. Now, a little birdie tells us that Ashok will be doing a romantic action flick to be directed by newbie Ashraf, a former associate director of AR Murugadoss. The film, we hear, is to be produced by S K Studios, which is currently also producing a Jai-Andrea starrer that has just gone on the floors. Ashok will be trying his hand at full-fledged romance and action, something which eluded him in his previous films. The rest of the cast and crew are still being finalised.

According to sources, Ashok has put all his summer vacation plans on hold and will be attending fighting and stunt classes with Pandian master. The flick will go on floors this summer.

Meanwhile, the actor, who has been flooded with scripts post Villa and Thegidi, will also be trying his hand at comedy. We hear that a major production house has signed up the actor for their next venture. The project is being kept under wraps, with the final list of cast and crew being prepared before the shoot set to start in the end of May. The film is touted to be a full-length comedy and will show Ashok Selvan in an entirely new light, veering him away from the serious author and detective roles he has done earlier.

The actor may also start work on a third flick — which he had agreed to do before Thegidi — later. With his recent release Thegidi shown on a major TV channel on May Day, we hear the actor is on cloud nine and is being flooded with calls from those who missed the movie at the theatres. With so much happening for Ashok, looks like yet another rising star is on the horizon.
