Ilayathalapathy Vijay has given the green signal to Raja Rani fame director Atlee for his next film. The film will be produced by leading producer Kalaipuli S Thanu, the Thuppakki producer.

Atlee has been working on a script for the last few months. Vijay loved the script and also put in some suggestions to better it. Vijay will start the shoot only after he starts and completes Chimbudevan's fantasy film.

If the latest reports are to be believed, Atlee of "Raja Rani" fame is likely to direct Ilayathalapathy Vijay for a new film.

There was a buzz doing the rounds that Atlee will be directing Vijay soon. However, there was no official confirmation regarding this. Latest reports suggest that the actor-director duo is set to team up for a film that will be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu who had funded Vijay's "Thuppakki."

Entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai has confirmed the news on this Twitter page.

Meanwhile Vijay is currently finishing AR Murugadoss’s Kaththi and would start Chimbudevan's film later this month

"Kaththi", which has been going on well. It is expected to be wrapped up soon and is gearing up for Diwali release.

After completing his portions for "Kaththi", Vijay is all set to commence the shooting for his 58th film. The yet-to-be-titled film will be directed by Chimbudevan and it will be one of the costliest projects made with a budget of ₹80 to ₹90 crore.

The film also has Sridevi, Sudeep of "Naan Ee" fame, Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani in the lead roles.

The shooting of Chimbudevan's film, referred as "Vijay 58", is expected to commence in September/October in Kerala. The untitled big-budget entertainer will be released next year.

Vijay is likely to start his 59th film only after completing his current assignments and it will be the first time that Ilayathalapathy teaming up with Atlee.

The director, who worked as an assistant director, made his directorial debut with last year's release "Raja Rani". The film received critical acclaim and also turned out to be a commercially successful project.

There will be huge expectations for Vijay-Atlee film when it goes on floors.
