’Salim’ is a sleeper hit!

Salim
Vijay Antony's Salim is a sleeper hit. This Nirmal Kumar directed movie had Vijay Antony and Aksha Pardasany in the lead and was produced by Studio 9, Sri Green Productions and Vijay Antony Film Corporation.

Salim released against stiff opposition on August 29 and last week completed a month. Initially the film started on a low key but WOM (word-of-mouth) was so good on the film that it slowly picked up and became a hit.

The film is named after the character Salim that Vijay Antony enacted in his debut film Naan (2012). As per trade reports the film reached across all centres from multiplexes to C stations as the story struck a chord with mass viewers.

The film cost approximately Rs 5.75 Crore and is said to have got a distributors share of approximately Rs 6.50 Cr in 25 days, making it profitable from theatres alone. The satellite rights were sold before release for Rs 2.5 Cr and other rights Rs 75 lakhs.

Salim and earlier Naan has made Vijay Antony a saleable star at the box-office. Today, producers are willing to make a film with him on a decent budget. He has also been able to create a star image among the audiences. His next film will be India Pakistan, said to be a comedy entertainer.
