Director Ranjith managed to get the industry talking with his recent film Madras, which had Karthi in the lead.

Now, we learn that Suriya was so impressed with the film that he has signed on the filmmaker to direct one of his upcoming projects.

Suriya will start work on this film, which he is planning to produce under his own banner, only after he finishes his other announced projects, to be directed by Vikram Kumar of Manam fame and director Hari. The star is currently shooting for Venkat Prabhu’s Masss.

While the actor’s manager and director remained non-committal when we reached out to confirm the story, maintaining that it’s “too early” to talk about any development, we hear from a source that the parties involved have actually signed on the dotted line.

Now, Ranjith has confirmed the news. Unlike reports that the film will be a breezy love story, Ranjith has revealed that it’s a complete action drama and will be totally different from his last film Madras.

“Everything is finalized now. I will be teaming up with Suriya for my film, which will be produced by Gnanavel Raja for Studio Green. This time, Chennai won’t be my film’s backdrop,” says Ranijth to a daily.

Our source also reveals that the film will be a beautiful love story and will see Suriya return to his romantic heartthrob avatar that we saw in films like Sillunu Oru Kadhal. While they are yet to decide on the rest of the cast and crew, Santhosh Narayanan, who has scored the music for two of Ranjith’s films so far, is likely to be roped in as the composer.

Surirya will be working with 13b fame director Vikram K Kumar and also director Hari in a recent interview has revealed that he will be working with Suriya in his next. So it is unclear that which one of these movie will get starts immediately after Suriya completes Masss. Looks like Suriya – Ranjith’s project can kick off only in the second or third quarter of 2015 if everything falls in place.
