Yuvan Shankar Raja’s decided to convert to Islam recently and his third marriage plans have been doing the rounds recently.

There were rumours that Yuvan, who was married twice, was now going to marry a Muslim woman. Yuvan got married to his longtime friend Sujaya in 2005. But they got divorced in 2007.

In 2011, he married Shilpa. But the second marriage also went through turbulence. Sources in the industry say his second wife has gone to London and is living there with her parents.

The son of music legend, Ilayaraaja changed his name to Khalique (Abdul Haliq), says report. As per the reports, Yuvan Shankar Raja has got engaged on October 29th to a Muslim girl named Zafrunnisa in a low key event in Chennai.

The music composer embraced Islam and said it gives him inner peace and absolutely there is no need to hide that.

Yuvan also tweeted: "My family supports my decision and there is no misunderstanding between me and my dad".

While we tried to reach Yuvan regarding this, a source close to the music director revealed, "Yuvan was very attached to his mother and soon after she passed away, he started missing her a lot.

He also met a spiritual guru, but we cannot say what exactly made him follow Islam," and maintained that, he was definitely not inspired by fellow composer AR Rahman (who had converted to Islam) in his decision.

"He has been doing namaz five times a day all these months. He is not missing his prayers even when he is at work and ensures that he allots time for it at his studio as well," said the source.

Yuvan’s sister Bhavatharini has confirmed the music composer’s marriage and has conveyed her utmost support and care on a social networking site. The family is said to be extremely understanding towards the conversion, while few others within the family seems to tease and criticize the decision.

Bhavatharini posted, “Yes.. My brother yuvan converted to islam nd myself ,karthi raajja nd dad have started accepting his decision.. All that matters in our family is his happiness.. And yes.. He wl get married for the third time cos his first nd second marriage dint work out cos of personal reasons.”

“He dint have kids or he dint cheat anybody.. He dosent drink or smoke.. From the age of 15 hes been doing music nd he dint follow my dads way of music.. He created his own style nd hes doing music now for more than 100 movies nd still he is being successful for his hard work,” she added.

“Its hard to see even his own family ppl teasing nd critisising him.. He has proved he wl prove nd he wl keep proving… All that matters is wether u r a good human being??? Nd yuvan is,” concluded Bhavatharini.
