Ilaiyaraaja completes 12 songs for his 1000th film, Bala's 'Tharai Thappattai'

Composer Ilaiyaraaja would soon be completing a Herculean task of composing music for 1000 films in various languages.

Bala’s upcoming directorial venture Tharai Thappattai would be the landmark 1000th film in Ilaiyaraaja’s illustrious career which has spanned for over four decades now.

The shoot of the film has been going on at a brisk pace. It is reported that Ilaiyaraaja has composed 12 songs for the film, based on the lives of folk artistes. Maestro, who specializes equally in folk as well as modern music, has completed his part of the job of composing the songs which have reportedly come out very well.

Once the entire shoot is wrapped up, Ilaiyaraaja would start composing background music. Bala, who recently produced Mysskin’s Pisasu, is said to be planning to hold the audio launch in a grand manner befitting the film’s stature as it has become Ilaiyaraaja’s landmark film.

Sasikumar and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar play the lead roles in the film in characters both haven’t yet attempted in their respective careers. Bala is said to have carried out a detailed study on the lives of Karagattam artistes before starting work in the film. He also produces the film under his banner ‘B’ Studios. The shoot has been going on at present in Thanjavur and Kudandhai localities.
