Cinematographer PC Sreeram, who has just commenced his ‘second innings’ in Kollywood, has spilled the beans on what to expect from ace director Mani Ratnam’s upcoming directorial venture Okay Kanmani.

Mani Ratnam, who has had a less-than encouraging response from audienes to his last two films in Raavanan and Kadal, is hoping to reverse the trend with his upcoming film Okay Kanmani which has Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen in lead roles. While Dulquer and Nithya had a solitary film each in Tamil releasing last year in the form of Vaayai Moodi Pesavum and Malini 22 Palayamkottai.

Sreeram hints that Okay Kanmani could very well be the sequel to Mani Ratnam’s 2000 super-duper hit Alai Payuthey which had Madhavan and Shalini in lead roles. It was also the last time that Mani and Sreeram worked together in a film. Sreeram, returning to Mani Ratnam’s fold after 15 long years, says that it appeared to him that Okay Kanmani could be a sequel to Alai Payuthey.

A.R. Rahman scores the music of the film whose shoot has been wrapped up and the post-production work has also commenced. Mani Ratnam, who is making the film simultaneously in Malaylam and Tamil, is in the habit of not revealing the plot of his film till it hits the screens. However, going by what Sreeram says, the lensman might have unintentionally let the ‘cat out of the bag’!
