Vikram's 'I' crosses 200 crore mark
Shankar's Tamil film, I, has hit the bull's eye, and how. Twenty days since its release, on Pongal day, reports suggest that this Vikram-starrer has joined the elite Rs 200 crore collection club.

Creative filmmaker Shankar went out of his comfort zone and made romantic thriller movie I with dedicated actor Vikram along with world's best technical department. I film got released worldwide on 14th Jan, 2015.

I film has entered into 100 crores club within a short span of one week time. With active publicity worldwide and strong content director Shankar achieved the unbelievable task with I movie. As per official reports Vikram I movie created a new record by collecting 203 crores worldwide for its run till date. Shakar's I film has made a special name for it in the movie record books to collected 200 crores.

With the Tamil version minting around Rs 74.07 crores in Tamil Nadu, the Telugu version netting Rs 40.20 crores in both Andhra & Telangana regions, I movie struck gold in both of its sweet spots. Interestingly, Shankar-Vikram magical combination could pull crowds in Kerala and Karnataka as well with Rs 13.50 crore and Rs 10.40 crore collections respectively.

The Telugu and Tamil versions have managed to collect Rs 4.03 crores in Rest of India while the Hindi version grossed around Rs 16.30 crores till date. The movie has performed exceptionally well in the overseas market collecting around Rs 38 crores in the rest of the world.

South Indian films reaching the 200 crore mark is very rare. The Rajinikanth starrer Enthiran was the first Tamil film to join the 200 crore club and now Vikram – Shankar’s I has joined the league.

Fresh estimates suggest it is on course to overtake Shankar's Endhiran (Rs 256 crore) in overall business. According to reports, the film’s major chunk of business has come from Tamil Nadu, followed by Andhra Pradesh.

I did exceptionally well in the international market as well, with the US and Malaysian ticket windows leading in collections, followed by UK, Canada and Australia/New Zealand.

Its Hindi dubbed version, however, couldn't dent the record set by Rajinikanth’s Endhiran/Robot. This despite the fact that both the lead faces of the film – Vikram and Amy Jackson – are recognizable to Hindi film audience.

Hard work with potential content always shines and gets its share of love from movie buffs which is proved once again with I film.

Despite mixed reviews for this magnum opus, it has reached the 200 crore club; thanks to Vikram’s extreme dedication and Shankar’s hard work.

According to trade sources, all the three versions of I – Tamil, Telugu and Hindi – have collectively collected more than Rs 200 crore at the box office worldwide. Well, undoubtedly, this is huge! The film recently crossed its 25th day at the box office, it may be noted here.
