Sun TV bags Maari; Dhanush plays role of a slum chieftain

Dhanush Maari
Maari is an upcoming Tamil comedy drama film starring Dhanush and Kajal Aggarwal in main roles. While Vijay Yesudas, Robo Shankar and Kaali Venkat are doing supporting roles.

Dhanush is set to shoot for Maari in the city, next week onwards. He'd taken a short break, but it's back to business for the actor, now. And we have come to know that a huge set of a slum has been erected in the city for the shoot - it is here that a major portion of the film will be shot. Also, negating the buzz of him playing a north-Madras tailor in the film, our source says that he is playing a local slum chieftain, which is also the reason why he has to speak in Madras bashai.

"The team shot in Triplicane, in the market area, for a few days, and then erected a similar set in another part of the city. The set includes a big market, apart from other essentials for the plot of the film. But contrary to reports, Dhanush is essaying the role of a slum chieftain, and not that of a tailor in the film. He speaks Madras bashai with ease on the set. A major portion of the film will be shot in this set. Shooting is expected to commence from next week, and they will continue to shoot till the end of the month," reveals a source.

It is not new in Kollywood that the movie starts it's trade while making of the movie is in progress. Like wise, Maari satellite rights bagged by Sun TV for Rs 17 crores.

The movie is directed by Balaji Mohan. The film co-produced by Sarathkumar, Raadhika Sarathkumar and Listin Stephen under the production banner of Magic Frames. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The film is set to be release during May or June 2015.
