Director Aishwarya Dhanush's second directorial venture Vai Raja Vai that released yesterday [May 1] strikes gold by reaping Uttama Villain collections in many theaters and multiplexes in Tamil Nadu.

Viewers are aware that Kamal Haasan's Uttama Villain has been blocked from screening in India, due to financial issues. Theater owners who had striking openings through Uttama Villain advance bookings have no other choice but allowing audiences to watch VRV or refund money. While, some made a smart choice by enjoying fun ride Vai Raja Vai, few others returned back with money awaiting Uttama Villain release.

When theater managers asked them if they wish to see Vai Raja Vai instead and more than half the crowd agreed as they wanted to enjoy the holiday with some good entertainment and fun. In a multiplex after you pay a heavy parking fees, it was better to watch what was offered than going back empty handed.

Luckily Vai Raja Vai seems to have entertained the masses and the film has grossed nearly 3.35 crores in Tamil Nadu on day one of its release. The film cashed in on the non-availability of UV. The numbers are huge as it is a small budget film with little known stars.
