Vetrimaran's Visaranai - First Tamil film to enter Venice International Film Festival

For the first time in the last 72 years of Tamil cinema, a Tamil film enters the competitive category in the Venice International Film Festival.

Directed by the National Award winning director, Vetrimaran, the film stars Attakathi Dinesh and Aanandhi in the lead roles. GV Prakash has composed music for this flick.

Visaranai is produced jointly by Vetrimaran and Dhanush. Incidentally, they had co-produced the critically acclaimed film, Kaaka Muttai, which also went on to a couple of National Awards.

“Visaaranai to premier at the 72nd Venice international film festival in Orizzonti competitive category. Proud Wunderbar films. In the 72 years history of Venice film festival #Visaaranai is the first Tamil feature to enter in a competitive category,” Dhanush posted on Twitter.

The 72nd Venice Film Festival is scheduled to run from September 2 to September 12.
