Court comes to Vadivelu’s rescue

The Madras High Court gave a relief to Vadivelu on Wednesday as it granted an interm stay on all further proceedings against the ace comedian in a lower court in Namakkal.

Last week, while hearing a petition filed by one Namakkal Raja, claiming to be president of ‘Sri La Sri Sankaradoss Swamigal Thunai Namakkal District Nadaga Nadigar Sangam’, Judicial Magistrate I in Namakkal issued summons to Vadivelu.

Following this, Vadivelu approached the High Court. Justice R Subbaiah, who stayed all proceedings, also exempted him from personal
appearance.

In his petition, Namakkal Raja said that Vadivelu's alleged statement that "the South Indian Artistes Association is missing and stolen" had caused him considerable anguish. Vadivelu made the speech before the Nadigar Sangam elections.
