Actress Meenakshi of ‘Karuppasami Kuthagaidharar’ and ‘Mandhira Punnagai’ fame, who was last seen playing R Parthiepan’s wife in ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’, found herself in the middle of a controversy after she allegedly slapped an assistant director.

The incident happened on the sets of ‘Nermugam’, being directed by Murali Krishnan, at the MGR Film City at Taramani in Chennai. It is learnt that as Shankar gained entry into a caravan without the permission of Meenakshi who was inside, she slapped and abused him.

Following this, assistant directors and technicians staged a protest, demanding unconditional apology from the actress. But she was not ready to apologise initially.

Later, as the protest intensifed, the actress issued an apologyletter. “I slapped a technician on the set of my film Ner Mugam. I am sorry about it, and it will not happen again,” she said in the letter.
