Superstar Rajinikanth today congratulated maestro Ilayaraja and the team of ‘Visaranai’ for winning National Awards.

Speaking to reporters at the Chennai airport, Rajini, who was on his way to New Delhi, said, “They (Ilayaraja and ‘Visaranai’ team) have made us proud. My warm wishes to them.”

Earlier today, the Vetrimaaran directed film bagged three awards (best regional language movie, best supporting actor – Samuthirakani and best editor- late T E Kishore).

Meanwhile in a statement, Dhanush, producer of ‘Visaranai’, said, “Three awards for ‘Visaranai’ mean triple the joy and I am duty bound to thank director Vetrimaran.”

He said he was sure the film would earn a ‘special place’ when he took up the venture, adding Tamil audiences will accept such ‘creations’ and that he was encouraged to support more such efforts.
