Sun TV donates Rs 9 cr to Nadigar Sangam

Nadigar Sangam's celebrity cricket tournament, called Natchathira Cricket, was held yesterday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, in which eight teams took part in the five-over matches. The event was organised to raise funds to construct the new building of Nadigar Sangam.

Big stars from other film industries attended the event. The star cricket match at Chepaul saw the likes of Rajinikanth and kamal Haasan inaugurating the event. Various film personalities from Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam cinema attended the gala event. Telugu superstars Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, Kannada actors Shivaraj Kumar, Sudeep and many others graced the event, and Kollywood was in almost full attendance.

The tournament was won by Chennai Singams, which defeated Thangai Warriors in the final by eight wickets. In the last match, Jiiva's team scored 83 runs in six overs which was succesfully chased by the Suriya's men.

Sun TV created lot of pre-buzz shows, events and promos for last few weeks in effort to support the cause. Sun TV that aired the event live on the channel came forward and donated Rs 1, 75, 00, 000 to the South Indian Artist Association and Rs 7, 25, 00, 000 to the Nadigar Sangam toward the end of the tournament. Sun Networks business heavily runs on the film and film based programmes and it is wise to support the film artists when needed.
