Venkat Prabhu’s Chennai 28 sequel launched today

Chennai 28 sequel launched today
Chennai 28 was a cult classic of sorts and the film gave an iconic representation to Venkat Prabhu. The film introduced a host of newcomers all of whom later went onto become heroes in their own right: Jai, Shiva, Premgi Amaren, Nithin Sathya, Aravind Akash and Vijay Vasanth. Its sequel of 'Chennai 28 part 2' commenced today with a traditional Pooja.

Based on the cricket craze in the country which would never wane, Chennai 600028 also had romance and sentiment interwoven in its script in equal measures. Venkat Prabhu’s success story as a director continued with films such as Saroja, Goa and Ajith’s Mankatha after which he hit a lean patch as films such as Biriyani and Maasu Engira Masilamani bombed at the box-office.

Venkat took some time in deciding about his next script and has gotten into the ‘sequel’ mode as he attempts to make the sequel to Chennai 600028.

Like its prequel, cricket and friendship remains as the core plot of this sequel as well, and it will discuss the lives of the Chennai 28 boys turning into middle-aged men in part 2. Vaibhav, Vijay Vasanth, Aravind Akash, Shiva, Nithin Sathya were among those who took part in the muhurat with the now-married Vijayalakshmi, who played the heroine in the prequel, making an appearance too! Most of the cast members who were a part of Chennai-28 will feature in the sequel too, with few additions.

Social media buffs know Venkat Prabhu’s craze for cricket through his social media presence and his profile that says, “Film maker & a die hard fan of team India & team CSK”. The nail-biting sequences in Chennai 28 were probably coming from a crazy little cricket fan than a director.

Such is the creative intelligence of Venkat Prabhu who has now set highly expectations for 'Chennai 28 part 2'.
