‘Theri’ screening issue: Theatre owners called for emergency meeting

Vijay's ‘Theri’ release issue: Theatre owners called for emergency meeting
The non-screening of Vijay’s ‘Theri’ at theatres in Chengalpet area (which covers screens in Chennai outskirts, Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur districts) is snowballing into a controversy.

Following a decision by Tamil Film Producers Council not to extend support to theatres which did not screen ‘Theri’, theatre owners association has called for an emergency meeting in Chennai this evening

“During the meeting, the issue will be extensively discussed and some crucial decisions would be taken. It is unfair to threaten theatre owners like this. Theatres are already feeling the pinch due to various reasons,” sources said.

Meanwhile, the Chennai Press Club and journalists have condemned Tamil Film Producers Council for expelling the crew members of Polimer TV from a press meet in Chennai on Sunday, following allegation that workers of the television channel shot 38 minutes of ‘Theri’ at a theatre in Coimbatore.
