'Karnan' is one of the most anticipated films of Dhanush this year directed by Mari Selvaraj. Expectation raised ever since the film was announced because of the actor - director combination.

This film is Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu's V Creations, who also produced Dhanush’s last film with Dhanush - Vetri Maaran's 'Asuran'. 'Karnan' has Malayalam actor Rajisha Vijayan as the female lead.

Actor Dhanush is celebrating his 37th birthday today on July 28 and on the occasion, Mari Selvaraj uploaded a photo of Karnan’s title look to this Twitter feed.

The title poster has golden sword that many hands are trying to clasp at with fire and smoke on background. We see wild animals on one side of the sword and group of people on the other. Mari Selvaraj captioned the post with: “Justice will rise up like the Sun.”



Apart from Dhanush, Karnan has popular Malayalam actor Lal plays an important role along with cinematographer turned actor Natarajan Subramanian. In a previous interview, Selvaraj spoke about the reason behind the title of the film and said that it is kept on the basis of Dhanush's character's name in the movie.

'Karnan' is not about Kodiyankulam caste riots, the films director Mari Selvaraj has clarified, in a recent interview to a leading Tamil magazine. Controversy erupted since it was speculated that the film is about the 1995 Kodiyankulam Maniyachi communal clash. The crew of the film were even threatened to stop shooting in Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi or face concequences. Members of the political party Mukkulathor Pulipadai demanded that the permission for the shoot be cancelled.
