The newest siren on the block Trisha Krishnan adds zing to the sizzle. Take a bow to the best new spice girl!
MAXIM: Hi, Trisha. First time in MAXIM. How's it feel?
Trisha Krishnan: Great! I've seen some of your issues, especially in the last couple of months, and I'm very excited to be on the cover. I like the fact that you portray sexy and glamorous in a nice way.
M: Yeah, that's us. Getting back to you though. You're a sensation in south India, done a lot of films in Tamil and Telugu before venturing into Hindi cinema. Was it difficult? How did you manage to get the semantics and feel right?
TK: Not really. Priyadarshan had launched me seven years ago, and this is a Priyadarshan film. So, I was made to feel pretty comfortable and didn't face any difficulties per se.
M: Tell us about your co-star in this film—Akshay Kumar. How was it working with him?
TK: It was super to work with Akshay. Not only does he have great comic timing, he also went out of his way to make me feel at ease.
M: We love masala dosas and know first hand that girls from the south are hot. Care to comment on this?
TK: I'd say south Indian girls are beautiful more than hot. You can always tell a south Indian girl both on and off-screen by the way she looks.
M: Hmm… so what makes a quintessential south Indian hottie? Someone like you, that is.
TK: A lot of character on the face. They are very talented and
versatile. Equally at ease in a sari and a skirt.
M: Based on research (our own), we've found that actresses from down south can undertake successful crossovers to Bollywood. What gives?
TK: First and foremost, I think the industry's very open to new faces. Also, the fact that most of the girls are already well-known names in the south helps. And what's more they mostly deliver on expectations.
M: We love it when hot girls let us raise expectations. Which brings us to this: Who would you not mind doing a lovemaking scene with in a film? All for a good cause, of course.
TK: To be very honest, I'd be uncomfortable doing a full-fledged lovemaking scene with anyone. I've done my share of intimate scenes and it's always very awkward to film those with so many people around you. I've always drawn my lines.
M: Damn lines! Now that we know about them, mind telling us what you wear to bed at night? Don't worry, we've no plans of having a pillow fight.
TK: Just a night shirt.
M: Wait, we have a vision. Okay, which five roles would you give an arm and a leg for?
TK: Kajol in DDLJ, Charlize Theron in Monster, Manisha Koirala in
Dil Se, Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby, and Rani Mukerji
in Black.
M: Seeing that you've been in some very successful Tamil films, we have to ask you: Who do you think is better—Kamal Hassan or Rajinikanth?
TK: Both are quite different people. While Rajinikanth is the star, Kamal Hassan is more of a serious actor. He loves to work with everyone, but might seem unapproachable at first. Rajini, on the other hand, is a complete people's person.
M: We've a feeling you're gonna be quite the people's person too. Who, according to you, are the two sexiest actors?
TK: Angelina Jolie and Kareena Kapoor.
Ah! We think alike!
