A heartthrob of young Kollywood movie buffs and a dear one to ace film stars, actor Karthi is celebrating his birthday today.

When an actor with a film background enters the world of movies, we expect them to repeat the same magic as their folks, needless to mention, in a similar style as well. But Karthi, son of Sivakumar and brother to Suriya, carved a niche for himself and awed one and all through his debut 'Paruthiveeran.' His very first movie received much critical acclaim and he proved his talent at one go to critics, audience, film stars and others. He bagged several awards for playing the titular role in this movie.

Even if a debut movie being a success is considered normal, maintaining the star status consistently is not usual. But the young talent chose carefully and performed in five scripts in his six year career as an actor.

He was roped in to play the lead role in a Selvaraghavan project in his very next movie. 'Aayirathil Oruvan' saw a whole new dimension of him, following which his 'Paiyaa,' 'Naan Mahaan Alla' and Siruthai were all box-office hits.

Karthi is also known among directors and appreciated for his spontaneity, dialogue delivery, and the 'actor' in him for he is natural with all the characters he plays. 'Siruthai' must be mentioned when we talk about this, because the actor was able to play two extreme roles as 'Rocket Raja' and 'Rathnavel IPS' with such ease.

When Karthi returned home after his graduation, he was drawn to filmmaking and he joined ace director Mani Ratnam as an assistant director for 'Aayutha Ezhuthu' and 'Yuva.' Initially, Mani offered him the role of Arjun Balakrishnan, that is to say, the role that was later performed by Siddharth.

But the star moved on to acting through Ameer Sultan's 'Paruthiveeran,' and we must definitely thank Ameer for introducing this actor to Kollywood.

Although the actor has never been shy with the media, he has successfully escaped controversies. He recently broke the hearts of many through his engagement with Ranjani, a bride chosen for him by his parents. The duo will enter wedlock this July.

As Karthi blows another birthday candle today, the last candle as a bachelor, we @ TheCinemanews wish him a happy birthday and hope that his forthcoming 'Saguni' will have a surprise in store for the all of us. We wish him success in his future endeavors.

Post your comments in here wishing the star on his special day and we'll be sure to convey it to him…
