CHENNAI: Around 60,000 followers of Swami Nithyananda have signed in blood in a petition addressed to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa complaining against Sun TV for continuously telecasting false and fabricated news against their mentor and spiritual movement for the past 15 months.
“We have sought an audience with the CM to personally lodge a complaint against Sun TV. We will collect at least one lakh blood signatures of the followers of Swami Nithyanananda and hand it over to the CM,” Swami Nithya Sarvananda, president, Nithyanananda Dhyanapeetam, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Circle, told mediapersons after lodging a complaint against Sun TV with the City Police Commissioner. “We have been knocking at the doors of the all available authorities, including various police stations, during the past 15 months, but of no avail. Now, we hope to get justice under the rule of Amma,” Sarvananda said. Declining to answer questions regarding the controversial video clippings showing Swami Nithyanananda and an actress, Sarvananda said that his petition before the City Police Commissioner and the one to be submitted to the CM would be with regard to the plight of the followers of Nithyananda during the past 15 months after Sun TV had unleashed a false propaganda against them.Sarvananda said Sun TV channel had telecast a scrolling news on March 3, 2010 stating that their ashrams at Embalam (Puducherry), Sattanathapuram and Pattinam (in Tamil Nadu) were being attacked by the public. But in reality, no such attack took place at the time of telecast of the news. Only after half-an-hour of the scroll news going on air, groups of people attacked these ashrams, which clearly indicates who was behind these attacks.Sarvananda said due to this false propaganda by Sun TV, family members of the followers of Nithyananda had become a laughing stock among the public and they have been undergoing mental agony due to the filthy comments being passed against them.
