‘Thuppaki’ Director Denies ‘Smoking Vijay’ in the Film

A R Murugadoss, the director of the Vijay film 'Thuppaki', has said that the controversial Vijay posters were published only for promotional purposes and the film did not have any scene like that.

The 'Thuppaki' unit came out with the film's first look pictures recently. The posters of the film was published in the dailies, website and also pasted all over the city. The pictures featured the film's lead actor Vijay smoking a cigar and this created uproar among the anti-smoking activists and the public.

Now, the director has come out with his explanation to do the damage control for the controversy that the posters had created. The director said, "The poster was used only for promotional purposes and no such scene is featured in the film."

'Thuppaki' has Vijay and Kajal Agarwal in the lead and Vidyut Jamwal, Jayaram and Satyan play other vital characters. Harris Jayaraj is scoring the music and Santhosh Sivan handles the camera. Kalaipuli S Thanu is producing the fim under his V Creations.

The story is based in Mumbai and Vijay plays an encounter specialist in the film.
