Kollywood support for Kamal's Vishwaroopam
Support continued to pour in for ambattled Kamal Hassan over the controversy in his new magnaum opus 'Vishwaroopam', which was banned in Tamil Nadu and some other states following objections raised by some Muslim outfits alleging that the film depicted them in bad taste.

A day after actor Rajnikanth jumped into the defence of Kamal Haasan, film-maker Bharathiraja and actors Ajith and Parthiban too came out in support of the actor-director. Bharathiraja, in a statement here today said "the trouble for Kamal is not just for him, it is against all dream merchants across the nation". He said "An artist like Kamal never pledged himself for business. He is a Bharathiyaar in Tamil cinema as he wants to fight social injustice and superstitions through films".

The veteran director said "we should fight for justice and lend a helping hand to such an artiste". Popular actor Ajith, in a statement, said "the Indian Constitution declares our Nation as a sovereign, secular, socialist, democratic and republic assuring its citizens of justice, equality and liberty". "But the trend is that all the words have been cliched, misunderstood and misconstrued", he bemoaned.

"Secularism is a system of political or social philosophy that rejects all forms of religious faith and worship. It is misunderstood as cliched words that are just adjectives for our nation", Ajith said, coming out in strong defence for Kamal Hassan. "It's time we lend our ears to the actual values that the country lives for", he added Actor Parthiban too supported Kamal by saying that "the loss is not only for Kamal but also for the entire industry".
