Like we reported few days back Star India is expanding its presence in Tamil Nadu with a new addition of Channel for Tamil audiences.

The new music channel called 'Vijay Music', joins the list of Star India and Vijay Television network. Kamal Haasan launches the channel on the stage of grand opening ceremony of Bigg Boss Tamil season 4.

Kamal Haasan says that Vijay Music will be a great platform for independent musicians along with film music. "I always hoped for such a platform. In fact, I even prepared my daughter Shruti for such an opportunity by sending her abroad to study music. But back in the day, there was no such platform," he noted.

Vijay Music will be available to a-la-carte subscribers / TV Viewers at Rs 1 excluding taxes. The channel is unlikely to be available in existing bouquets with Star India unable to push its new Reference Interconnect Offer.

Star India had initially planned to launch Vijay Music on 1st February 2020 along with Star Gold 2 HD, Star Movies Select, and Star Sports 3 HD. Star India however deferred the plans to launch Vijay Music with New Tariff Order (NTO) 2.0 impasse pouring water over its plans to push a new Reference Interconnect Offer (RIO) which was followed by the COVID-19 induced lockdown.

With the NTO 2.0 impasse likely to drag on further, Star India has chosen to go ahead with the launch of Vijay Music. The launch of Star Gold 2 HD, Star Movies Select, Star Sports 3 HD, and Disney Channel HD continues to remain on hold until further intimation.
