Superstar Rajinikanth is turning 63 today, 12/12/12  a date that happens once in 100 years. Rajinikanth is truly a phenomenon and has a terrific reach worldwide. From mid-1980’s he has remained the number one star at the Tamil box-office.

There is something in Rajinikanth which all sections of audiences from high end multiplexes in metro’s to single screens in villages love, which has made him an universal star. He is the only actor whose film Endhiran features in Kollywood’s Rs 100 Crore club (NBOC- Nett box-office collections after tax), based on theatrical collections alone.

12/12/12 has become an important day for Rajinikanth fans. Two books on Rajinikanth are being unveiled on his birthday. The Definitive Biography by Naman Ramachandran which recounts Rajini's career in meticulous detail will be released. Another book titled My Days with Baasha written by director Suresh Krissna (Annamalai, Veera and Baasha) and co-authored by Malathi Rangarajan is being released.

A few days back Latha Rajnikanth unveiled a birthday- song album on Rajinikanth which is directed by Raghava Lawrence. The song is composed and sung by Vijay Anthony, and written by Annamalai and has been released on YouTube.

A host of television channels are running special programmes on Rajinikanth. The audio of Karthi’s Alex Pandian is hitting the stores on Rajnikanth's birthday. Remember the title of the film is inspired from Rajinikanth’s character name Alex Pandian from Moondru Mugam.

Meanwhile the biggest event of the day will be the re-release of Rajinikanth’s AVM produced Shankar directed Sivaji in 3D format. Sivaji 3D is releasing in nearly 100 3D enabled screens in Tamil Nadu. The superstar himself in a message has said - "Sivaji 3D is a birthday gift to my fans!"
