Director Vasanth, who has finished the shooting of latest offering Moondru Per Moondru Kadhal and is ready for the release, and he is the one who introduced Suriya to Tamil cinema through Nerukku Ner.

In a candid and open interview he said that Ajith was not his first choice as lead for ‘Aasai’ and he had infact approached Suriya offering to introduce him as a hero. Suriya, who was then working in the garments industry, felt that he was well separated from films and had no interest to be a part of it. He then went to Ajith, after being impressed with his show in Amaravathi.

A few years later Vasanth approached Suriya again and made the offer for Nerukku Ner to which he readily accepted. Vasanth also took the opportunity to laud Sivakumar for the manner in which he had raised his children and said that he was proud of what Suriya had made of himself today.
