Producer and director Cheran’s JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai is gearing up for a Christmas release. The film written and directed by Cheran has Sharwanand and Nithya Menen, in the lead with music by GV Prakash.

Today (11/12/13) morning speaking at the audio launch of Samuthirakani’s Jayam Ravi starrer Nimirinthu Nil, Cheran made a sensational announcement. He said that his JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai will be available on the net (Pay per view ?) satellite and in DVD on the day of its release legally.

Speaking at the function producer Rajan complained bitterly about online piracy with many torrent sites playing the film on release day itself and how it is killing Tamil cinema.

Cheran who spoke after Rajan said: “My film JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai will be on the net, satellite, DVD and other platforms on release day itself, to combat piracy!”

It is a very brave decision by Cheran, but will he be able to implement it in the conservative Tamil film industry? Remember Kamal Haasan the pioneer tried his level best to change the industry by trying to have a simultaneous release of Viswaroopam on DTH and theatre, but never worked.
