Thanks TN Govt.! Kollywood rocks with pure Tamil Titles!

Thanks to Tamil Nadu government's entertainment tax policy, pure Tamil titles are back in demand.

In the 1960's and early 1970's pure Tamil titles were popular. But with the advent of globalisation a lot of English titles which appealed to the youth became a craze.

Now the wheel has come a full circle with TN government policy , making it clear that Tamil titles are a must along with a U certificate if a film has to get a tax exemption.

Recently films like Jilla and Rummy were rejected by entertainment tax committee as title was not Tamil. So it is back to pure Tamil title with films like Rajinikanth's Kochadaiiyan, Shankar – Vikram's Ai, K.V. Anand's – Dhanush's Anegan, Arya's Meagaamann, Ravi K Chandran – Jiiva's Yaan, Nakul's Vallinam, Suriya’s Anjaan, Vikram Prabhu's Arima Nambi are some of the movies which have pure Tamil words as titles.

In fact, lot of people quiz the makers to find out the meaning of the words. It's good that old pure Tamil words are getting re-introduced to the current generation.
