The 56th National Film Awards for 2008 were announced on Saturday. The Juries for Feature Film, Non-Feature Film and for Best Writing on Cinema presented their report to the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni.
The winners are
· Best feature film: ‘Antaheen’ (Bengali))
· Best actor: Upendra Limaye for ‘Jogwa ‘(Marathi)
· Best actress: Priyanka Chopra for ‘Fashion' (Hindi)
· Best director: Bala for ‘Naan Kadauul’ (Tamil).
· Best cinematography: Antaheen (Bengali))
· Best lyrics: Antaheen (Bengali))
· Best supporting actress: Kangana Ranaut for 'Fashion' (Hindi)
· Best supporting actor Arjun Rampal for 'Rock On' (Hindi).
· Best editing: Firaaq (Hindi)
· Best art direction: Firaaq (Hindi)
· Best male playback singer award Hariharan for 'Jogwa' (Marathi)
· Best female playback singer Shreya Ghoshal, 'Antaheen'(Bengali) and 'Jogwa' (Marathi)

· Best non-feature film: ’AFSPA 1958’ for the courageous depiction of the non-violent resistance of the people of Manipur
· Best Biographical/Historical Reconstruction/Compilation film: Films Division produced ‘The Assassination of Rajiv Gandhi — A Reconstruction’
President Pratibha Patil will give away the awards to the winners in March.
