2009 was a year of freshness in everyway. We saw a lot of remix, fresh composers, singers and more. Music Directors giving tunes to films with rural flavour have made it bigger last year. The best of all goes apt for V. Selvaganesh with ‘Vennila Kabai Kulu’ and James Vasanthan for ‘Pasanga' while ‘Kunguma Poovum Konju Puravum’ was a good one from Yuvan. Well, tuning melodies for rural flicks is not as easy as taking on city based themes as one can't blend the western beats and hip-hops.

On the other hand we did have those urban and melody tunes like Thaman’s ‘Eeram’, Devi’s ‘Kanthaswamy’ or Harris’s ‘Ayan’. As usual Harris-Suriya combo gave hits with ‘Ayan’ and ‘Aadhavan’. Vijay Antony is one of the leading composers who gave a great collection of peppy numbers for Vijay in ‘Vettaikkaran’. And needless to mention about Rahman’s awards and accolades for the whole year. Though ARR had no Tamil albums for the year he had ‘Couples Retreat’ in English and few others in Hindi.
