CHENNAI: Within hours of joining DMK, actor Khushboo faced her first test in politics.

She has been shown the door by Jaya TV, where she had been hosting the popular game show, 'Jackpot'. Jaya TV is backed by the rival political party AIADMK led by J Jayalalithaa. Confirming the news, KP Sunil, producer of the programme, told TOI, "We have taken the show off the air."

On Friday, when she met the media soon after becoming a primary member of DMK in the presence of party chief M Karunanidhi, Khushboo expressed confidence that she could remain in DMK as well as continue to host the show on Jaya TV. "This is politics, but that is business," she had said.

However, Jaya TV was quick to react to the news, and took steps to create alternate programmes until a new anchor can be signed up. 'Jackpot', the hourly programme which is aired at 8pm every Sunday, is one of the longest running game shows and has been on air since 2001.
