ARR concert kicks off on June 11

Called ‘Jai Ho - The Journey Home’, the western leg of A R Rahman’s international concert kicks off in New York on June 11. The last concert of the series is at London’s Wembley Stadium on July 5.
Eleven concerts are going to be held in North America between June 11 and July 5, after which ARR and his contingent will go to Europe. The New York show will take place at Nassau Coliseum.
A R Rahman is the new sparkling gem for North America. The Indian maestro’s fans in North America are eagerly waiting for him.  Jai Ho Tour's tickets are apparently sold out in North America.  The ticket for the concert costs US$1,050 (around Rs 50,000) and for his fans that looks a small price. A R Rahman’s concert is of great interest even for Americans after ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ Academy Awards and Grammy Awards.
Delhi-based designer Ritu Beri has designed 300 outfits for ARR merging Indian traditions and modernity for the concert. The show will be rich and loaded with troupes of dancers and Cirque du Soleil acrobats and other special performances.
Michael Jackson’s brother Jermaine Jackson, and MJ’s son Prince reportedly paid him a surprise visit at his rehearsals in Los Angeles recently. There Prince is said to have told A R Rahman that he is a big fan of his Jai Ho song.
