The 57th National Film Awards 2009 was announced on Wednesday afternoon (15th September, 2010). Film 3 Idiots bagged the Best Film Award for its wholesome entertainment. Abhishek Bachchan starer film Dehli 6 won The Nargis Dutt Award For Best Feature Film on National Integration. Amitabh Bachchan was honoured as the Best Actor for his outstanding performance in the film Paa. The film Abohoman got Rituparno Ghosh the Best Director Award and actress Ananya Chatterjee the Best Actress of the year.

The music of the film Dev D by Amit Trivedi won the Best Music Director Award. Resul Pokkutty won the Best Sound Engineer Award. Best Background Music was won by Iilayaraja. K. Siva Shankar won the Best Choreographer of the year for the film Magadheera. Farooq Shaikh won the award for the Best Actor in Supporting Role for the film Lahore. Arundati Nag bagged the Best Actress in Supporting Role for the film Paa.


Best Children Film of the year is the Kannada film Puttani Party and Ottani Patti and Keshu won the best Child Artist Award. The Best Tamil Film of the year is Pasanga.

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan bagged another award. The Big B was adjudged Best Actor for his role in the movie ‘Paa’.
Mr Bachchan also completed his hat-trick of the national film awards. The 57th National film awards announced on Wednesday afternoon. Eminent director Rituparno Ghosh was declared Best Director for Bengali film Abohomaan.
The movie 'Delhi 6' claimed the award for national integrity while Aamir Khan's blockbuster '3 Idiots' won the national award in the most popular category.
Malayalam film 'Kutty Srank' was declared Best Film while Well Done Abba clinched the award for Best film on social issues.
Best Actress award went in favour of Ananya Chatterjee for her role in Abohomaan.
