'Nagaram' Audio Launch
“Filmmakers should create awareness among the people on various issues and propagate rationalism. Tamil movies should reflect the culture of the land”, Chief Minister M Karunaidhi has said.
He was speaking at the audio launch of ‘Nagaram’, a film directed by Sundar C and produced by Kushboo, in Chennai Saturday evening. “There were days when movies made in Tamil failed to hail the language and the land,” he said.
“Even great poet Bharathidasan penned a verse taking a dig at such filmmakers,” the Chief Minister said and added: “But things have changed and movies these days reflect the culture well. A song from ‘Nagaram’ which was screened here now is an apt example to it.”
Urging Kushboo and Sundar (who has also played the lead role in the film) to come out with more such movies, Karunanidhi said that he would always support bold attempts in films.
The first copy of Nagaram's music album, which has songs tuned by Thaman S, was launched by Karunanidhi and received by Kamal Haasan in the presence of Tamil Film Producers Council president Rama Narayanan, actress Anuya, Sundar and Kushboo.
A song and a comedy track were screened besides some live performance. Others who took part in the event include Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin, Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi, FEFSI president V C Guhanathan, Vairamuthu, 'Editor’ Mohan, 'Jayam' Ravi, K S Srinivasan and Sivasakthi Pandian.
