Mani Ratnam, Bala get gold cards

The whole of Kollywood came under one roof at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday for the 40th year celebrations of the Directors Association.

From actors to music composers to producers to singers to technicians, everyone took part in the grand function to celebrate and to recognise the contributions of directors to the Tamil film industry.

The day long event started with a photo exhibition which was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Social Justice, D Napoleon in the presence of veterans like K Balachander and Bharathiraja.

What followed was a music programme, in which a long list of music composers, singers, actors and actresses took part to entertain the audience. Veterans from neighbouring States like K Vishwanath, Mammootty, Hariharan and Nagabarana were the chief guests of the event.

The much awaited progranme- a grand star night- started in the evening where a host of programmes from skit to songs to dances were staged by celebrities. A gold card was presented to Mani Ratnam, Agathiyan and Bala honouring their contributions.
