Susindran, Gowtham Menon on Same Pattern

Susindran, Gowtham Menon on Same PatternThe trend of novel and short fiction adaptations are booming up in Tamil film industry. The top-charting directors Gowtham Menon and Susindran aren't an exception.

'Dreaming and Becoming Hollywood' has been the uttermost motto of every filmmaker in Kollywood. Perhaps, some of the filmmakers blatantly restrict themselves with a safer bet of entertaining the frontbenchers with commercial ingredients. But a sudden rise of need for other cohorts of auteurs has gradually pushed them to adapt the Hollywood formula of making films based on novels and short fictions.

Susindran's upcoming film 'Azhagar Saamyin Kuthirai' is based on the novel penned by his dialogue writer Bhaskar Sakthi. The film is produced by Gowtham Menon under the banner of Photon Kathaas Factory and Ilayaraja is scoring music.

Gowtham Menon's 'Thuppariyum Anand' is also reported to be based on yesteryear Tamil classical fiction work 'Thuppariyum Sambu'. Meanwhile, a former short fiction writer A.R. Murugadoss is planning to make films based on the stories he penned before getting into filmdom.
