Director Karu Pazhaniyappan turns hero with his next directorial venture titled 'Mandhira Punnagai', a film with the same name which starred Director in the lead and release close to two decades back.  Pazhaniyappan's story, however, is not even remotely connected in any way with the Sathyaraj-starrer.
The audio of the film was launched at the PVR Multiplex in the city recently. Knowing very well that the journalists would ask him as to what prompted him to don the role of the hero and whether his script was turned down by other heroes, Pazhaniyappan was ready with the answers.
"When I was ready with the script, I told my Director to look for a hero when he prompted me to play the role myself.  When the producer is so confident of casting me, why shouldn't I take the plunge, I thought," said Pazhaniyappan.  The trailer shown on the occasion depicted him in a 'dizzy' mood.  The bespectacled director had been to the gym to get his body toned up, he revealed.
The mandatory warning to the public 'don't take after liquor' is only shown at the title cards, as the hero and others are shown to be 'drinking' quite frequently in the film, he said.  He summed it up by saying that his film would be an usual entertainer and won't be 'very different'.
